El Caporal II
About This Spot
Stepping into El Caporal II, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting hum that immediately feels like a comfortable neighborhood gathering spot. The atmosphere is lively without being rushed, where familiar conversations mingle with the savory scents drifting from the kitchen. It’s the kind of place where the day’s pace softens, inviting visitors to unwind with friends or family over familiar flavors and generous portions.
This Mexican restaurant embraces a sense of homecoming — a place where the friendly staff anticipate your needs with a genuine smile, and the care put into each dish echoes that heartfelt welcome. Whether you’re settling in for a casual meal on your own or sharing plates with loved ones, there’s a quiet joy in the details: the crispness of freshly made chips paired with bright salsa, the satisfying depth of a hearty burrito or enchilada, and the subtle layers of spice that awaken the palate without overwhelming.
Beyond the food, the experience carries moments that linger — like the easy friendliness of servers who seem to know many regulars by name, creating a space where everyone is seen and valued. It’s a place where both locals and visitors can feel a sense of belonging, whether dining in the cozy interior or bringing takeout home to savor at their own pace. The steady rhythm of welcoming chatter and the clinking of glasses, including a well-earned Margarita or a refreshing Michelada, round out an experience that feels authentically lived-in and warm.
El Caporal II captures the essence of an unpretentious local treasure — a spot anchored by real people, welcoming spaces, and the simple pleasure of well-made Mexican flavors that invite return visits and long, appreciated meals.

Really good Arroz con pollo! Actually, best in town! Fast & friendly. Always have excellent waiters & waitresses. Exceptionally friendly & go out of their way when serving you. Large portions- always have leftovers.

Fast HOT Fresh! We did take out: Tacos de Pork Carnitas and Carne Asada & Camerones - it came with fresh homemade salsa & chips - a delicious treat! It would have been nice to dine-in but we had our Friday-nite-out on our dining table at home - and we still enjoyed an excellent evening. And our cat Bob always enjoys the carnitas too!!

The server was super friendly. I had a nice taco salad with chicken and used their wonderful salsa on it. It was delishious and so big there was no way I could finish it.

I was a one year exchange student in town from Spain, it was 2008. My girlfriend and I used to pop up every now and then, the food and the service was fabulous , we went there anytime we wanted to feel like home. The owners were so kind, I remember we ended up building such a good relationship they even gifted me an amazing desk I needed for studying. One of my best memories from that year in Ellensburg
